In times of need, people will make the best of what they have and learn to improvise. That is what happened to me in England. Being homeless and lacking any valuable possession, I ended up living in a plastic tent for several days. The plastic tarpaulin protected me from direct rain but didn’t keep moisture out. Eventually I upgraded from the tent to a bender, which used tree trunks for foundation and a plastic sheet for a roof. I also built a greenhouse using a clear plastic sheet thrown over a desk.
